Factories Changed the Way of Life

Urban industrialism effected nearly every profession and was a huge change in everyday life. Artisans that usually custom made shoes, tools, furniture, wagons etc. for specific customers were pretty much run out of business over time. There was no way they could compete with the factories, and they weren’t making enough money to make their own factories. Cities began forming around mechanized factories, because of the jobs it produced, and because factory owners began to create factories along rivers and railroad tracks because they could ship out their goods conveniently. Factories produced quality goods at a faster rate, and transformed the manufacturing world as we know it today.

This transformation had its positive and negative effects. There was several negative effects, it was almost impossible for wage earners to earn a living because the factories were producing products more effectively. Industrialism also led to sweatshops, which led to all kinds of deaths and diseases. The positive effects of industrialization were far greater than the negative effects. This led to mass production as we know it today and has a daily impact on our lives, such as the clothes we wear, the books we read etc.
