Ring the Alarm

I believe that one of the most important things that took place during this time period was the creation of official fire fighters. This was important because at this time there weren’t many safety precautions taking place, so that left everyone vulnerable to an outbreak of fires. At the time, there were only volunteer fire fighters that fought fires for fun on the side, along with another job. By creating full-time fire fighters, the cities became safer, which also came with a better water supply. The water supply had to be improved because the former supplies were contaminated with all kinds of diseases.

Every city that worked on getting full-time fire fighters benefited from this improvement because their citiesĀ had becomeĀ a safer place knowing that there were people for emergencies.

  1. I believe that the reorganization of the fire departments was very important, because communities were not really safe from fire, and having unprofessional men doing the work is not as satisfactory as if a professional was doing it.

I totally agree with how important it is that fire departments were reorganized. I think the reorganization helped set a precedent for the future fire departments, or fire departments today. Imagine how bad it would be if fire fighters were never reorganized?

I don’t understand how anyone can get a thrill from fighting fires. Must have to have some daredevil qualities in you, but I totally agree. Removing the “fun-fighters” with professionals who know the precautions to handling fires is a huge step in city renovations. Causes the spread of burning buildings to decline and fires to be out more quickly. In these times we were rooting for more fire- fighters, but now so many of them remain job-less due to our economy.
