Getting to the source

                  A majority of Tyler Anbinder’s sources are primary sources, he backs up his informations and arguments with documents like newspaper quotes, first hand account stories, and letters.

This is an example of a secondary source, even though it was taken from the well established newpaper Times. The primary source however is listed after the times, The 1855 New York census is a primary document that is original source.

2. Monthly Record of the Five Points House of Industry4 (April 1860): 17.

This is an example of a primary source, due to the fact that it was an original written report of the monthly record of the five points industry. The date written in april of 1860 is also an indicator of this document being recorded in the correct time period to be a primary source.

This source is clearly a secondary document. Anbinder recieved his information from another book written by another author on the matter, making this a second hand account of the incident.
