The Barnum museum……Well besides being a little creepy and a little random, if that makes any sense, it was not that bad. The way the website is designed is pretty cool, you get to “walk” around picking and choosing items you thing are interesting. Often you’ll get a summary on the historical item and you can read on if you want.
A lot of the material seems to be centered around antebellum and post civil war issues, which is great since we are covering that in class. Furthermore it gave some interesting insight on what you could expect to see in a plays during the time period. The topics ranged from Uncle Tom’s Cabin to the Rocky Mountain Wild Indians. Also I read up on issues like fires and public etiquette in New York and even explored many of the attractions that Barnum had, and the history behind them.

I think the website was informative but honestly it was not that appealing to me. The website lacked structure and seriousness it made me feel childish. But one man’s trash is another’s gold. This might be something elementary or middle school kids like.
