As I “walked” through Barnum’s museum I found many different things interesting. I found that there were a wide variety of different people who where supposed to be some sort of freak I guess you can say. There was the face of expressions, and George Washington’s slave over a hundred years old and many others. Some were primary documents; a letter that I can’t seem to find again was written by a women, and the website asked if you wanted to see the typed texts. There were newspapers etc.. I did not find who the killer was however.
I learned that the entertainment from those times was like entertainment of today. For example wrestling is fake. Its all acting. Many people know this, like me for example, but still watch it because it is entertaining. That is what Bernum provided. He provided an entertainment for people that was enjoyable whether they new it was real or fake. Also, in a carnival by my house they used to have a soft of creepy people to see. They had the smallest horse and the worlds smallest man. I was young when I saw these so i don’t really remember what else there was or what they looked like.
I think the website is a very good way to teach people about Barnum’s museum. It’s not my idea of fun par-say but its cute and mildly entertaining. The game I tried playing is a little bit confusing but its a good idea and concept. In a way its like Barnum’s museum. You have to think and figure things out for yourself.
