The website Slavery in New York focuses on what occured before slavery, what led up to it and what happended after. It was definitly more personal than the readings. It had actual letters from slaves, describing what they went through. Homberger mostly gets to the point and leaves out alot of details. Homeberger also doesnt give much information on what led up to slavery and what happended after it ended.
I do feel that both the website and authors achieve there goal because wether you just looked at the website or the reading you will get a full understanding of what occured and basically the main point. However i can say that the website was just more interesting to me, with all the details and images. The virtual tour contained many useful facts and it was nice to browse through. I read alot of details about the Atlantic slave trade, Dutch New York and the revolutionary struggle for black freedom. I definitly liked how the website gave information on how slaves gained there freedom and what took place after and how they became succesful.
