I choose to read start learning about the Riots in New York City from the material on the website. I noticed that is it only separated into four sections on the incident. New York city/civil war in 1863, A city divided, the riot begins, the riots target. I learned the general sense of what happened and actually started the riots however reading Bernstein’s piece The New York City Draft riots, he goes into a lot more detailed information. The Bernstein piece brought into account a lot of incidents and historical moments that contributed into the actual riots. The website since it is only dedicated to this one riot should be a bit more specific. Bernstein saw this riot as a lot more than just riots, he knew that this civil war draft would reveal the hidden process that gave birth to the now modern and urban America. He believe that the riot was an unusual event that not only mattered in the war but also for the social life of the city.
