“The omnibus made wheeled transportation available to more people tan did the hackneys and carriages, and it carried riders on a reasonably predictable schedule” (Chudacoff 81). The omnibus was a great transformation as transportation became more conformed. People fixed their schedule according to the transportation timing, rather than having the transportation fit into their schedule. The omnibus altered the “walking distance” and had transport facilities to middle class society. Until the omnibus was created, only the wealthy had the opportunity to transport without having to walk.

The omnibuses were also created for monetary purposes, “most omnibuses were owned by individuals whose main objective was to make as much money as they could rather than provide a public service” (Chudacoff 81). The service was horrible – it was too cold in the winter time, and too hot in the summer. Even though it reached its maximum capacity, people would still pour in. Also, it was as fast as someone walking very quickly. Nonetheless, people still transported because they could afford it.
