Beyond the Civil War…

The poet "George Moses Horton"

“Slavery in New York” is gallery of  a sequence of events that followed slavery  and its root dated with some statistical focuses. the New York city in particular was different from other cities in the south  in terms of numbers of salves  freed and those who migrate or forced to seek opportunities in New York.  1799 act  was a historical date in New York city   and a historical event  which granted the State to lead in abolishing slavery legally.

“The social Mosaic” introduced the life of freed black in New York in social and economic context, it emphasized  the socioeconomic of urban city and the problems that encountered  the freed slaved, non freed ones  and otters. although African Americans were almost same as white in numbers , the main economic resources were on the hands of 10% of white male. also the slavery time  has forced  African American to gain only non-keeled jobs in city. This imposed the great complicity as many groups competed for the employment and housing the city can offer .

The story of the first African American poet ” George Moses Horton” was an image and one example of the how thousands of others slaves suffered. This was history of slavery experience  before and after civil war in social, political, and economic context. All black slaves shared the hope of liberty that lead them to build an organized community against the injustice they have suffered from.
