In 1880s and 1890s large cities of American granted franchises to trolley companies. Trolley lines helped a lot to the working class people. They could go to work from the buses and gave a new form of commuting transportation. This started becoming more prominent in New York and other states.
Since, it had definitely made human life easier at that time but also with the development there was an increase in noise , dirt, and danger to traffic. Therefore, it was run in only few places.
