America-bound

All Nations Under Heaven, by Binder and Reiners, provides for an in-depth look on ethnic and racial history in New York City. They describe the origins of immigration and the reasons for it. Afterwards, explanations are provided for how they assimilated into New York City, and how certain events and time periods affected those that have immigrated to New York City. I would base my website on that, dividing the information by both racial group and time period. It’ll be similar to how the textbook is laid out, dividing it by time period.

The website will be focused more towards how accessible information is found, rather than through interactiveness such as the Barnum museum website. It won’t be the funnest website, but it’ll boast a great ability to have easy to access information regarding ethnic and racial history in New York City. The main focus of the website is to inform those that visit about the progression of ethnic and racial history in New York City. Due to the massive budget, information can be sought to provide for maps that reveal trends of different racial groups as time moves towards the present. Along with race and time period, there’ll also be a feature on specific topics, such as housing or jobs. These divisions will further enhance the easiness of obtaining information from my website. The website will simply be a place where information can be gathered in an easy manner.
