Binder and Reimers covered immigration of various races and cultures in their chapters. Following suit, if I had the resources to make a website to portray immigration throughout the years in New York, my plan would be as follows: I would divide the website by ethnicity, like Irish, Chinese, Italian, etc. Each ethnicity will have it’s own exhibit/section of the website. There will be a time line, specific and important events of the immigration period and there will be many pictures and visuals for the visitor to analyze. All the information within the sections sorted by ethnicities will also be sorted out by topic to make it more organized. For example, the information will be sorted either by time period or their topic, like housing, type of work and jobs they had, family life, culture, problems they faced after immigration, etc.
In addition, to make the website more engaging and more fun to the visitors, there will be real life videos, if it can be found, of how life was back then. There can also be a game or story where the visitor can play through that will make learning history more fun and enjoyable. (similar to the Barnum Museum website) There will be an assortment of visuals, fun facts, information and colors on the website so it will be appealing to the visitor.
