The first question that comes to my mind when I hear about immigration is why. Why did those people at that time want to come to the United States. In my website I would have each group of people that immigrated here within the time wave that they came. For example when the wave of the Irish, German, Scotts, etc. came they would be classified by the time. On one side of the page there would be the reasons why they left their country, and the other the reasons they were drawn in here. Also known as the “push-pull” factor. Thats very important. I would also maybe have some bar graphs showing how many came here but more importantly how many actually stayed. I would include pictures of ellis island and some background about that because I think the tough route some of the immigrants took to get here is important
I love the cartoon! The reason immigration is an important topic that could be covered in our midterm is because we are all immigrants, or we are all part of the family who were once an immigrant. To know what they lived through will help us better understand why New York is the way it is today.
I like your idea for a webstite, and the cartoon you have up there is funny. I also agree with Anita, immigration should be on the midterm because it’s important. But I disagree with the whole “we are all immigrants” thing because I’m African-American and most of us were brought here.
