My website would elaborate on the cultural identity of immigrant groups in New York. In the website I would also highlight how different ethnicities effected each other’s development. The layout would be all-encompassing. The first page will give you a general overview of the website with a link to the home page. Once you click the link you will be presented with the names of all the ethnicities that immigrated to New York from 1600’s through the present. The background would be rotating images of all relative content. Once you click on the group you would like to study, you are taken to a new page, here is where it gets fun. First you get the over view of the groups, with links to everything from, religion, theater, music, fashion, athletics, food etc. There would also be a blog portion where you can add your own ideas and information, like a mix between our blog and Wikipedia. You can also post pictures you would like to share with others and on the links of music and theater there will audio and video files, helping the reader get a sense of cultural traditions within the groups.
There is also a search feature that can help you locate a certain topic. I would include a “Maps and Graph” section in the website and organize it chronologically, along with a basic timeline presenting important dates and events.
The goal of the website is to give the basic understanding about the various immigrant groups, focusing on their social characteristics. And then if the reader is still interested allow them the opportunity to dive deeper in the topics, even letting them engage with others.

Immigration is what essentially made New york what it is known as today, the melting pot. This is so important because with so many cultures living around us we can learn from them and become better people in all aspects of life.
