Countless Cultures 3.0

Countless Cultures

New York’s population, as stated in writings by Binder and Reimers, maximized greatly during the 1720s, as the count jumped from 33,131 to 60,489. This vast popluation growth caused the problematic result of assimilating the new-New Yorkers. The city’s population increased gradually due to the incoming of refugees who seeked refuge within Mahattan. These immigrants reigned from various countries including France, Britain, Germany and others. In addition to the increase in the population count, there was an increase in job opportunities as the old shops were now being transformed into factories, thus providing working facilities for those in need.

If a website should be designed to depict what occurred during the times covered in Binder and Reimers’ writings, it would be organized according to the ethnicities of the populations – categorizing cultures by the country from which they reign. This would make it easier for a researcher who wished to gain information on a specific culture. Each culture will contain information on their history – stating when they migrated, where specifically in the city they migrated to, and what jobs they were known to be at. The periods for which significant incidents took place would clearly be highlighted.

In addition to the above, a page would be made showing the relationship of the change in the population with the periods in which this change occurs. For example, in the 1720s, the population jumped from 33,131 to 60,489. The website would be named “Countless Cultures”, as it is made up of information on various ethnicities and their migration to New York. The website would contain pictorial representations to keep the researcher engaged and to enable a better understanding of stated information.
