Working For Uncle Sam

The great depression was one the most historic collapse in a country’s economy possible. It was terrible ,people were losing jobs , governments couldn’t receive tax returns , and unemployment rates were skyrocketing. How bad were these unemployment rates you ask? Well in 1933 , unemployment rates reached 40% of the population in Chicago, while 30 % was the number in New York , and a whopping 26 % was the number in Cincinnati. People who were trying to enter work simply could not find any jobs. For African Americans , it was twice as hard to get a job as the average white male. African Americans rates in cities like Chicago, Pittsburgh, and Philadelphia reached rates of more then 50% unemployed. Throughout cities millions of dollars went spent in relief to aid this effort , but the financial hole was to deep. U
