The autumn of 1929 was when it started; the American nations experienced an unexpected and detrimental incident that sabotaged the economy and deprived the citizens of opportunities – The Great Depression. Signs of damage was evident in various aspects of the economy; one aspect that was severely impacted was Housing. According to Chudacoff, “new housing construction shriveled to almost nothing” (pg 203) Also, the number of mortgage failures increased significantly. This lead to the rise in concern about housing and its impact on the future.
