  1. Ilya and his family are Russian immigrants who currently reside in Staten Island. Although many people decide to live in neighborhoods that have the same ethnicity or similar to it, his family moved to Staten Island instead rather than Brighton Beach, a primarily Russian neighborhood. Ilya has realized that Staten Island has been growing more diverse.

  2. The colleague with which I had discussions with, came from Hungary. Their family moved to the city for better job opportunities.

Katherine and her family are from Korea. She lives in Astoria, Queens. She was born here in United States. She is the first generation from her family. She is proud to be Korean and she equally likes American culture.

John and his family were from South Korea and he came to the U.S. when he was very young so he has long adapted to the culture here and feels like he was born here.

  5. Jerry Chan says:

Sheena’s grandparents were the ones the immigrated to America. Something interesting I found out about her family was that they used to work inside a textile factory. Her grandma worked in conditions similar to the Triangle shirtwaist factory which is frightening.
