The BreathTaking Sources!

Five Points written by Tyler Anbinder illustrated the 19th century view of new york. It really presented us with a lot of details and facts on the city as a whole and how people were living. It handed us both primary and secondary sources of events and information. He presents us with numbers that show how much new york city has increased in population and immigration. He then presented us with changes from before the population expanded to after it expanded showing correlation in increases in food , supplies and etc.

Source 1. The Evening Post – This would be a primary source due to all the information it had obtained and shelled out. The evening post was used to fit perfectly, informing the readers with exact information and data on dates that it was used. It would indicated information of killings and crimes all over.

Source 2. Gangs of Nueva York – This seems like a secondary source because it was written a long time after the events have occurred , as well as the author having his own opinion of the urban community which may lead to bias information.

Source 3.  Harpers Weekly  Sept 5 1868 –  This is a primary source because it has the collection of the liberty of congress , meaning it had direct information meaning it was written right after an event. It was a newspaper that was operated during the time of five points and had plausible facts of the events that happened.
