The content between the readings and the website are similar in topic. Both cover slavery and anything related to slavery. Readings and the website both cover for example, the abolishment of slavery and the events and life styles because of the slave trade. Both go in depth with different sides of slavery while presenting certain views on slavery. In my opinion the website is neutral and allows you to explore and learn and form your own thoughts about slavery, but shows the evils of slavery, while the readings, like White’s Somewhat More Independent, for example, may go to listing out how slavery could be a positive thing.
The website provides images, ads and what not, which is more visual and helps the reader learn and explore more on the topic. It shows the evils and how it is immoral to have slavery while sticking to it’s neutrality. Both the readings and the website go through the before, during and after of slavery. Both are great ways to learn but I would prefer the website, which captures the reader more
I agree with the statements stated above. I too would prefer the website over the readings. The readings were sort of boring and complex compared to the websites simple structure. Furthermore, the website made it easier for others to understand what was going on because it included images. Images hold peoples attention (thats why kids read picture books)!
We are very fortunate to have access to various learning tools: websites, books, magazines, television, etc. I think there will always be a place for books but increasing, especially in our generation, you are seeing things become digitalized. Where one is better than the other, I think both are very useful and it just depends on your preference and learning style.
