When people think about skyscrapers, they think of major cities such as NYC. However in reality, many cities had built sky scrapers by the 1940’s. Although NYC has some of the finest and most popular skyscrapers in America, it was not the only city to have them. Although NYC built the first skyscrapers in Ameica, many cities such as Miami had also built a spectacular skyline. Many Americans tend to forget the beauty of Miami and other cities because they are overshadowed by the great New York skyline.

The automobile was first introduced in the early 1900’s. It was available only to the wealthy upper class. In the 1920’s, the automobile became more mass produced and many Americans were able to buy it. This allowed for an even greater expansion of New York City than the Mass Transit system. More and more people could move out of the over crowded city and drive to work. The automobile changed the way New Yorkers lived and helped make it what it is today: a commuter city.

Boston and New York were two of the most prominant cities during colonial rule. They were both port cities and they were both business oriented. Both Boston and NYC had a large number of merchants and traders as well as local citizens and skilled laborers. When England imposed the Intolerable Acts, both cities fought against them. However, when they were repealed New York City stopped most of its resistance while Boston carried on with its rioting. Chudacoff and Homberger seem to disagree on which city played the most important role in the revolution. I would have to agree with Chudacoff that Boston made the greatest difference. Boston was the center of change. It fought gainst the crown to protect the interest of its citizens. In New York city, the merchants had more control, so when the taxes were reppealed, they went right back to business. Boston remained active and eventually became one of the leading causes for revolution against the crown

The website is set up to make the visitor feel like he is in an actual museum. The visitor can “walk” through the museum and look through different displays. By clicking when a question mark appears, the visitor can read the descriptions of the historical artifacts that they are looking at. It is a good historical artifact because it allows people to learn about history. It provides a good 3D visual and provides a wealth of descriptions that encourage learning.
Although there are many things that make this website a great historical tool, there are a few turn offs. A virtual museum does not give the same feeling as a real museum. The ability to actually see and touch real artifacts that are within reach is was makes a museum a museum. Seeing virtual reinactments on a screen does not really give a visitor the feeling of seeing something significant. Also, the virtual controls were very annoying. The whole concept is a good idea but the interface was terrible. It took me a while to get the hang of the navigation within the museum. If the controls are improved, the website might be a lot better.
