This song is about freedom. The singer is talking about his limitations as a human being, and his desires. The lyrics goes like this-

I wish I could be like a bird in the sky
How sweet it would be if I found I could fly
Well I’d soar to the sun and look down at the sea
And I’d sing cause I know how it feels to be free…

The song is asking people to unite and work together towards a better world where even the hardest of things can be overcome and achieved through unity. Unlike a lot of freedom songs from the 1960s, this song isn’t directed towards any particular group. Whereas in the previous song that I posted, which is “Oh Freedom” by Odetta, a strong message was conveyed to the African-American community still suffering from the heritages of racial discrimination.
