“The unknown soldier” was from an American Rock band called The Door. This song appeared as the single for their 1968 album Waiting For The Sun. This song was written by the lead singer and lyricist of The Door, Jim Morrison. It was his opinion and the wanting of the Vietnam War to be over.
I believe most of the people hearing the song would agree with the lyrics. They may identify to the lyrics because they probably did watch the news of the War unfold in front of them at breakfast or even dinner.
