Thanks to a generous gift to the Honors Program from the Sunny and Abe Rosenberg Foundation, Provost and Baruch Scholars in the Baruch College Honors Program may apply for funding for certain academic enrichment expenses. Rosenberg Foundation Grants can be used (in order of priority) for:
- Study Abroad (up to $3,000* — see below)
- Independent Research or research alternative projects (up to $500)
- Unpaid Internships that are not for academic credit (up to $1,000)
- Academic Conferences (up to $500)
- Graduate or Professional School Application or Interview Fees (up to $500)
- Licensing, Graduate, or Professional School Exams (up to $500)
*For study abroad, Baruch Scholars may apply for $1,700 (in conjunction with the $1,300 Baruch Scholar study abroad grant for a total eligibility of $3,000.) Provost Scholars may apply for $3,000 for study abroad support.
Eligibility:
Grants may not be used to subsidize internships that carry academic credit, nor for books, materials, and supplies. In addition, grants may not be used to defray living expenses, except for some study abroad programs. Study abroad grants are for expenses such as airfare and program fees. Tuition, books, materials, or supplies are not covered. Please speak with your advisor regarding your plans to determine whether a grant may be used for study abroad. Funds may cover costs already paid this semester or anticipated expenses; supporting documentation must be included justifying the amount requested along with receipts.
Priority consideration will be awarded to those students who have not previously received funding from the Honors Program. Rosenberg grants are available from fall 2012 through spring 2014.
How to apply:
To apply, students must be in good standing in the Honors program.
For Study Abroad: Once you have been accepted into the study abroad program, complete the grant application. Attach receipts; invoices are not acceptable. You must be accepted into the program before you can be considered for a grant. Submit the official statement of costs with the application.
If studying abroad for a full semester, also apply for a CV Starr Fellowship in the Study Abroad office to supplement this grant. Or for short-term study abroad programs, apply for a CUNY STOCS scholarship.
Students will be notified by email. Once approved for a grant, bring a copy of your official study abroad permit in order to pick up your check.
For unpaid internships: Internships must be unpaid and at a not-for profit institution. Complete the supplementary form to document your internship.
Applications are due December 1 for spring and summer applications and July 1 for fall programs. Grants are coordinated by Jody Clark Vaisman. General questions can be directed to the Honors Program office.
