January 13, 2015 By cgreene

Let’s Get Ready (LGR)

Deadline to apply is January 21st, 2015
To apply online, visit Manhattan Chelsea Site

Let’s Get Ready (LGR) is a FREE program that allows college students the opportunity to provide SAT tutoring and college application assistance to students of lower income backgrounds. The goal of the program is to GET STUDENTS READY for college. LGR mobilizes and provides training for college student volunteers to be coaches, mentors, and role-models who provide both SAT instruction and college admissions guidance, as well as the encouragement and inspiration that students need to succeed. To date, LGR has served over 14,000 students at sites from Philadelphia to Maine and this Spring we will be working with students at the NYC Lab School in collaboration with the Hudson Guild Beacon.

They are looking for motivated, dependable and enthusiastic college students to join the program!

  • Coaches work intensively with a group of 5-7 high school juniors one night a week on either Tuesdays or Thursdays from February through the first week of May and teach either Math or Critical Reading and Writing content. They will provide the training, materials, and curriculum. This is a wonderful opportunity for students looking to get practical teaching experience and a fulfilling service opportunity that makes a concrete difference in the lives of our students.
