When listening to these videos especially the second it is strange to think how we have almost come full circle in regards to American society. As the British used to search an entire village with a single warrant how we now not only search but store data most likely infinitely about our neighbors our brothers our fellow countrymen sometimes without warrants or a justifiable reason. I also thought it was interesting, as one man said, the balance between security and privacy sways as one increases. I never had thought about the way that our security is also intertwined with our privacy. We love our privacy here in America but also love our freedom. As not many wars have taken place on our home soil I believe we have a false sense of our own security. This data-mining phenomenon as a marketing major is seen as the next big tool decreasing the amount of waste sent to consumers. However, it also is the governments next way of monitoring, trending and categorizing us essentially discriminating their own people.
