2011 NYC High School Journalism Conference

High school newspaper advisers and their students are invited to join the NYC High

School Journalism Collaborative and members of New York City’s press corps in a day-long series of workshops and presentations designed to educate, inspire and transform student journalists and their leaders.

Paul Steiger, ProPublica

We are pleased to announce that Paul Steiger, editor-in-chief of the Pulitizer-winning ProPublica, will be our Keynote Speaker. This year’s event also will include the 2nd Annual award presentation for The Newsies! –  New York City’s high school journalism competition.

The conference will feature more than 30 workshops for advisers and students. Check back frequently for updated workshops and presenters.

Please note: Each school is permitted to bring one adviser and up to five (5) student journalists to the conference. Space is limited. Pre-registration is required for the “Getting your newspaper online with my.hsj.org” workshop. Please indicate interest when registering for the conference.

Advisers should e-mail their name and their school to hsjournalism.conf@baruch.cuny.edu. Registration closes on Fri., Oct. 14 and is on a first-come, first-serve basis. Registration by e-mail only. All schools must register to attend.
