Russolo talks about how noise evolved in the recent centuries. There was time when there was no sound at all besides the sound of nature and occasional hurricane and tornado. In contrast, today we hear thousands of noise on a daily basis which we don’t even bother to care about. From the excerpt one thing that stood out to me is “The ear of an eighteenth century man never could have withstood the discordant intensity of some of the chords produced by our orchestras…..” this couldn’t be further from the truth. In today’s era we have events like electric zoo or EDC (Electric Dance Carnival) where thousand gather and enjoy electric dance music which is often unbearable to many people including myself. Many call electric dance music not music while others believe its a work of art. Point I am trying to make here is that as centuries passed by music was adopted as a way of living. If we get on a subway anytime of the day we see majority of the riders have their headphones on listening to various type of music, podcast, audible books or any sort of noise. Noises today may not be understood by our ancestors but since we as humans evolved so did our noise.
