After reading transcripts, watching videos and understanding poll reactions I conclude that this series of debates was full of name calling (as viewers can see by clicking the full video links given in above sections), agenda attacking, and memorable images. The public tuned into these debates, especially the second one as it was a new format, and they were engulfed by the images and footage of Bush, Clinton and Perot on the same stage. Clinton entered the debate season with an edge and won the election. There were highs and lows that America experienced on live TV. And polls between the debates show that people ARE effected by what they see from the debates. It is this entertainment and the image of these men on a screen that effects who “wins” the debates but there is no evidence that leads me to conclude the outcome of the ’92 election was changed by the debate season.
