This blog features final projects from ENG 3095: “The Dark Side of Jane Austen” at Baruch College, taught by Stephanie Insley Hershinow. Little did we know when we began the semester just how dark a turn we would take. Halfway through term, we were suddenly plunged into remote instruction, as the COVID-19 pandemic changed our reality. As New Yorkers, we saw our city altered, and many of us have been ill or have watched loved ones fall ill. Some classmates have been unable to complete the semester, for absolutely understandable reasons.
These final projects reimagine Jane Austen’s writings in a variety of ways—in new forms and media, asking new questions, arriving at new answers. We hope you enjoy exploring.
Be well and stay safe.
