About My Research

Research Areas: Business and Society, Business Ethics, Economic Sociology, Organizations, Morality, Religion

I am trained as a sociologist (PhD, Cornell University) and now an Associate Professor at Baruch College-City University of New York (CUNY). My research focuses on realms of the business domain that overlap with ethical considerations. How do people and organizations blend their moral values with their economic activity? I’ve approached questions like this by focusing on ethical investing, charitable giving, environmentally friendly consumption, voluntary simplicity and the commercialization of scientific discoveries. I have published in Business Ethics Quarterly, Journal of Business Ethics, Business and Society, Social Forces, Socio-Economic Review, Research in the Sociology of Organizations, Psychology & Marketing, and Business and Society Review, as well as other peer-reviewed journals. I am an associate editor at Business and Society Review.
