The natural disaster that has occur called The Guerrero Earthquake killed 13 people and injured at least 23 others. Therefore, the earthquake has caused fear and led to some people being evacuated. The tremors were felt over a wide area, affecting Mexico City as well, where buildings shook and residents hurried outside. Mexico is vulnerable to earthquakes because it lies along the Pacific Ring of Fire a zone where tectonic plates meet and often result in earthquakes. Although Mexico’s authorities and emergency services are usually ready to deal with such emergencies, earthquakes of this size can still result in considerable chaos and destruction.

The Tragic Cause in September 1985…

In September 19,1985 was the last time a horrible earthquake occurred with the biggest magnitude of 8.0 since 2021. The earthquake’s epicenter was near Lázaro Cárdenas, a town off the Pacific coast of Michoacán. Where Mexico is located approximately 350 kilometers away from the epicenter. The earthquake had struck at 7:19 a.m. Southern Mexico felt the impact of the earthquake and with the death toll being the most devastating outcome. Many individuals were injured, and thousands lost their lives leaving 700 injured and 16 dead.

This was the very first time that Mexico had been struck by an earthquake, leaving everyone scared and traumatized. The entire town lay in pieces and destroyed, leaving them with nothing but the hope of coming together as a community and having each other’s backs.

The video, it shows a few men volunteering to find people who had been struck by the earthquake when they were left in their houses but they rescued people from the building and they were treated so they didn’t suffer from a lot of injuries.

My Grandparents Story…

It had been the night of September 7th 2021. Where my Maternal Grandmparants and had been the busiest people in a small town and when I tell you they are known by the whole Mexico Town that they have lived. Everywhere they go there is always someone saying hi and they are the sweetest people ever. But since that night at around 8:47pm they start getting ready to sleep at around 8 since they wake up at 5 to take care of the animals and start their day. They have been left scared, I interviewed both my Grandparents and they dont remember much of it since it has been awhile for them they said. I had told my Grandma her side of the story and she had told me that she was scared and left tramutized. Since they own a store my grandma had told me she was closing up the store by putting the boxes in the back of the register. She had stack them as well and it is filled with Juices and chips. When she felt the earthquake, she didn’t know what was happening. All the snacks had fallen to the ground, and the earth was shaking from what she could remember. She had told me that she was holding onto the shelf to prevent herself from falling.

As for my grandpa’s story, he told me that when he was closing up and she was packing, she had asked if I felt it. At first, he ignored it, thinking it was just a passing tremor. However, it soon escalated as everything began collapsing around them. He spotted my grandma and rushed to shield her head, huddling together in a corner for protection and after they were protected but stood up to their store being a dump they did not sleep instead they started to pick everything up adn everyone from the town that they loved in was asking our grandparents if they are okay and they even stopped by to help them out pick up all the stuff that had fell and since their line was cut out they had told us they tried to call us but the call wasnt going through but they relaized that their wall had  recoveredcracks down the wall and the back of the window was shattered and they had to go all the way to the city where they had to repair their door since the town they  lived in they dont fix much if not people come in and fix and repair the town.

Overall when I interviewed them they told me it was the scariest experience ever and that they don’t ever want to experience it again they have recovered from the earthquake and now my grandparents rely on us to help them out if an earthquake were to happen like this.

(There was no photo taken since their phone had shatter since it fell from their table to the ground)
