Jazz, Jazz Everywhere

The idea of this site is to show an objective view of how the jazz genre continues to impact the music we listen to today. From Duke Ellington to Thelonious Monk to Sade to Flying Lotus to Kendrick Lamar to Brasstracks, jazz can be found almost everywhere in the mainstream and the underground. A key component that will be studied is how jazz influences the hundreds of underground producers that can be found on SoundCloud today. These producers blend EDM-styled music with jazz chords, which results in more densely packed material as opposed to the generic and cookie-cutter style we usually hear today on the radio (see “Animals” by Martin Garrix”). Unfortunately, since this underground scene is so new, there is a lack of sources on the subject that aren’t online.

Here are some songs to jam to while reading through this website. Cheers!
