The Temple I went to visit was Bhuvaneshwar Mandir located in Brooklyn, 307 Stanhope Street. They are opened one day a week which is Sunday from 9-11:30. They have many celebrations and services which can be a birthday, a special holiday, a special occasion, and a service meeting. When I walked in I was asked to remove my shoes and leave them in the room by the entrance. Then I walked into the room where the ceremony was going on. There were chairs in the back and people were also seated in the center of the room on the floor. There was a speaker talking and everyone was listening. There was many pictures on the wall and the statues were all the way towards the back of the room very near the people on the floor. The stautes were being offered the smell of incense and food. After the speaker stoped taliking there was a song that everyone started to sing. The men had instruments on them and were singing along with everyone else. Blog Posting #3 Special Event
I was actually able to attend two special events. One of these days were for Mothers Day and the next was for someones birthday.
On Mothers Day there were many women who attented this ceremony. Many of them were sitting on the ground around in a circle and there were men behind them with instruments. They were singing prayer songsand in the ceremony were offering sweet foods. They did a hand movement to signal the offering of the sweets. They also had a moment of silence which they seem to do at every ceremony they have. After the moment of silence was over the women came up with grapes laying down next to the stautes by the feet.
For the day of the mans birthday he was sitting in the middle of the floor with a flowery necklace around the neck and everyone took turns singing songs to him and after words gave him a hug. They also had many incents for the statues behind him. After the ceremony everyone had something nice to say about the man and there was also a lot of food at the end.

Blog Posting #4 Interview a leader.
When I was speaking to one of the workers closely associated with the president of the temple I was able to ask for his personal opinion on the difference between Hindu life in America and in India. He told me that for him nothing has really changed. Everything that is done here in America, all the ceremonies that are done every Sunday at the temple are the same exact things that used to be done in India. I was very surprised to hear this myself but he told me that he has grown very comfortable in this environment and has enjoyed attending every Sunday service. He did not have to change anything in order to continue with the organizations and services for every Sunday meeting.
