Assignment 3
The sun through the window lit up the whole room, warm on the body, I still lying on the bed with half-awake. The washing machine rumbled the clothes; the kitchen knife snipped in the vegetables, the lampblack whirred. The dish is then poured over a hot iron pan, which gives off a quick stir-fry, the chopstick stirs the thick soup, the garbage bag is tied up and crackles, the broom rubs on the ground. Suddenly, I heard a bark; the original is the side of the puppy to wake me up. Such a beautiful morning, dad was cleaning, mother in the kitchen to prepare a big breakfast.

The sound I chose is from Taylor Deupree (b. 1971), a sound artist living in New York. From the first half of the sound I hear a pure, clean melody. At the same time, I felt a sense of awe and heaviness. The sound of bells and coughs in the background reminds me of a temple where everyone prays for good, where everyone has a pious heart. They want their wishes to be fulfilled, quietly but with a touch of anxiety. From time to time also appeared the piano crisp voice, lively and relaxed, that represents a good wish. The second half of the piano and noisy noise, a sharp contrast. Just like the contrast between ideal and reality, one is beautiful, the other is cruel. From beginning to end, they all exist at the same time. It seems to be angels and demons in the human heart, one represents justice, the other represents selfishness. They’re always fighting, complementing each other. Life is like a giant paradox, never uniform. Where there is joy, there is pain. Where there is hope, there is despair. But perhaps that is what life is all about.
