Art always had a place in my heart, Its a part of me and it shaped me as a individual that I am today. Our world is only beautiful due to the different art forms from individuals who would love to share their ideas and expressions with one another. To me art is a way to express my inner feelings and emotions, a way to share my stories to the world and let them understand a little bit more about myself. It is magnificence how art is great form of language where people from different cultures or backgrounds are able interact with one another in the forms of arts like music, dance or paintings. I wish that people are able to understand how I am feeling from my art, I want to create a visual sensations for the viewers and also bringing in a deeper message behind the art. In life, a lot of things are based on appearances and we often judge things by its cover and often miss the details that we should pay attention. With my form of art, I hope that people are more aware of details and objects in everyday life and understand the beauty of art in different forms.

Based on the reading “The Principle of New Media”, it is clear that media has changed drastically through out the years and that creates a clear distinction between old and new media in society. What really stood out to me was the Variabilities of the new media and how it can exist in different type of forms, potentially infinite versions up to ones imaginations.1357163125-kk-installation

Old media art would involve a human creator that creates media in a particular type of composition or sequence for one to follow. This sequence would in some material, in order determined once and for all.Numerous copies could run off from the master and with the logic of the industrial society, all of the copies will be identical. New media art in contrast values in variability. Rather than having identical copies, a new media would be created in different versions. The versions are assembled by computer instead of by the humans. Which makes variability a principle that is very similar to automation. Under program control, media elements maintain their separate identities  and can be assembled in numerous sequences. A very good example showing the method of variation is the use of “distancing” or “level of detail” in interactive virtual worlds such as VRML scenes. The designers would create models of the same object, each with progressively less details. When the virtual camera is close to the object, a highly detailed model would be used, if it is farther, a less detailed model will automatic be used.

In my opinion, ” Variations” would connect to people who are opening blogs and pages about themselves and sharing it to the media world. It shows that people have variations and have a different look in the society that we live in. Although we might look at the same objects, walk the same streets and breathe the same air, we can feel and express our emotions about our surroundings differently. Thats the beauty of the new media arts today.

After reading “Digital Technologies as A Tool”, I became interested in the artist Paul Smith. It was amazing how the artist was able to create a alternative reality through digital manipulation are complemented by the works an air of the “hyperreal”, creating a heightened reality that seems neither an authentic representation nor artificial.

Based on my online research.Paul studied fine arts between 1991 and 1995, and then completed his masters in photography. He focused his skills in examining what drove masculinity while concentrating on the surrounding culture and social norms that created the visual of “various alpha male identities”. Paul became interest in the army ways, joined in age 16 in 1985, and after several jobs in the army and moving to Germany he became a paramedic. After the army he hard the opportunity to learn more about different types of photography through artists like Helen Chadwick and Jimmy Pike. Paul was later interested in depicting what he personally experience in war and rearranged pictures that gad replicas of him in them. Manipulating the photographs in certain ways was very difficult during that time since technology was not as advanced.

In his series Artist Rifles and Action, Paul Smith depicts himself as the protagonists of his own works, deconstructing myths of masculine stereotypes and glorification. The Action Series depicts as the omnipotent super hero of any actions films, jumping from one building to the next or in free fall, parachuting from a plane. The Heroic fantasies propagated by the movie became the reality of the artist. In a gallery environment, the art works installed with light boxes under the ceilings enhancing the illusion and force the viewer look up to the hero. This shows a major factor in the representation of art. In my opinion, the artist just want to show the stereotypes of masculine and mocks the heroic figures in history in order to entertain viewers. However, Paul Smith was able to connect with his viewers and let them connect the art piece to their every day life, which makes the art works personal.

Landfill Project Response

It was really awesome how we were able to meet the artists for the landfill project on wednesday. When we first met at the library and was waiting to know about the project these artists had planned out, i did not know what to expect. As the artists begin to discuss about the drilling animation they had created in the library, i wonder about how much and dedication was needed for creation of the art piece. It shows true dedication when i realized the artists went through scientific research in order to complete the art piece and making the animation realistic.

The program shows that plastic plays a very dangerous role in our environment and most people are unaware of it in society. Plastic has been creating harm to human for a long period of time and many are unaware that they are consuming plastic. It is very simply, small fishes will consume plastic, bigger fishes will eat these smaller fishes, whales and humans will eat these bigger wishes and eventually plastic will go into our stomach. It is very important that we pay attention to our environment and it was very meaningful when art plays an impact to our surroundings.

Through this project, I learned to look at art differently and how it creates an impact to society when we take consideration into the importance of art. I realized that real passionate artists will not assume things by themselves but they will do research its accurate information for the world when they are creating the art. It shows the dedication and effort artists have when they take art into a whole different level. Therefore, when we look at a piece of art, it is very important to trace to the work and research the artists has done in order to complete this master piece. Art is simply beautiful. Abstract-Art-Faces

Blog Post 1 Reflection on McLuhan Reading

After reading the McLuhan, i was simply amazed by how media is able to overwhelm the importance of their content. Its amazing how the little things in the media would be overlooked. It was very interesting how the reading went through the term medium. It was a term that I have never look too closely upon. Medium would serve as a way to evaluate our thoughts, every action and every institution formerly taken.I was also shocked by the extension of objects, in which it describes how the extension of any sense alter way we think and act and how we can perceive the  world. I felt like it is so true because the way we view objects would vary for different people and that shows how everyone is unique from one another and how we view objects. After all, this reading definitely make me pay closer attention to objects around me and the media around how the world is shaped in modern day.

One object i want to show is Music from the headphone is an extension to the ear  according to McLuhan! music.headphone.eliteBUZZ
