Revised Artist Statement
Art always had a place in my heart, Its a part of me and it shaped me as a individual that I am today. Our world is only beautiful due to the different art forms from individuals who would love to share their ideas and expressions with one another. To me music is a way to express my inner feelings and emotions, a way to share my stories to the world and let them understand a little bit more about myself. It is magnificence how art is a great form of language where people from different cultures or backgrounds are able interact with one another in the forms of arts like music, dance or paintings. I wish that people are able to understand how I am feeling from my creation, I want to create a visual sensations for the viewers and also bringing in a deeper message behind the art. In life, a lot of things are based on appearances and we often judge things by its cover and often miss the details that we should pay attention. With my form of art, I hope that people are more aware of details and objects in everyday life and understand the beauty of art in different forms.
My work will be alive and be able to connect to viewer, I want to show emotions form my art and show viewers the ability to feel art through sweet and bitter. Its essential to experience joy and sorrow in life because it shapes us as individuals. By looking at the pieces that I created, viewers are able to learn more about themselves and understand more about relationships with love ones or friends and understand the essential element of a relationship: intimacy. It might be crazy if I say I say I want to make the world a happier place but I want to make one extra individual happier each day within my work and making a difference in the world.
Final Proposal
At the start of semester, I had very little clue about what New Media Arts was and I thought it would be a very fun class and I was right. I was looking forward to learn different forms of art and being exposed to different forms of artistic fascination in the world. I am glad I took this course and was able to challenge myself to create different forms of art in the world although some parts were challenging. Although it was difficult to learn these different concepts but I was glad to learn these skills and it changed the way I look at society.
For the final project, I plan to incorporate sounds of the city and a video capturing my daily life in order to let viewers know more about me. I plan to use Photoshop, Audacity, photography and animation in order to bring ideas into life. It will be a long process but I am up for the challenge. I want viewers to understand the city from my prospective in a New Media Arts lens.
Party In NYC, Soundtrack Project
RIP: A Remix Manifesto
In the beginning when I first saw the video, I wasnt too sure how i felt about it because it was a party scene introduction and I did not understand why I was watching the video. As the documentary progress, I begin to show more interest into the video and I wanted to learn more about the media in the society that has to do with copy rights laws. The ideas in the video would involve how people would view copy rights laws and how people have to be very careful in order to prevent copy rights violation.
As part of the Remixer’s Manifesto, the author touches upon some major points, which shape up the entire structure of the documentary. The author gives the audience a sense of direction, which helps the viewer to clearly understand the movie’s message. Ideas such as 1. Culture always builds on the past, 2. The past always tries to control the future. 3. Our future is becoming less free. 4. To build free societies you must limit the control of the past.” make the movie more organized and easy to follow.
Prior to watching this documentary, I had little ideas about copyright laws, public domain, and free use. All I knew was: illegally downloading music is bad, taking things that aren’t yours is bad. However, I didn’t know how extreme laws are and the cost of attaining copyrights. It seems unreal how people would go to jail just because of copy right laws. I was interesting to see this issue from the point of view of the. I sympathize with their grievances with corporations, the music industry, and recording studios. However, I do believe the answer to the problem lies in a compromise between the Copy right.
The internet was created to be a tool to share between users. Over time, this global landscape has become limitless in its potential to create and collaborate. As I said in earlier blog posts, I love the idea of a global collaboration, however in practice and reality, we have to adhere to some rules. (It was also awesome to see the director stick to his beliefs and allow collaborators and remixes to help in creating the film.) I agree with many of the points in the Remix Manifesto. How the last two points manifest themselves will dictate the future. Though hackers and remixes represent a financial minority compared to the power of corporations, I believe that numbers can dictate change. Though this change will not be instant or as drastic as we would like, I believe that a slow compromise through redrawing copyright laws is necessary.
As a performer myself, I think copyright is a very sensitive topic this documentary definitely enlighten me about a lot of different ideas about creating my music. I found it shocking that one album could potentially make about 4 million dollars and how it could impact the financial standpoint of so many people. I believe more people need to be aware about the topic of copy right and it is very important people start paying attention people for their creativity and value their unique work. Copyright laws were meant to encourage creativity in music but not to limit those who would to be exposed to it. I believe the world would be a better place if they start to understand the real meaning of music.
The Art of Noise
In The Art of Noise, Russolo called for a new musical reality that introduced everyday noises of the modern world, natural and mechanical—into musical composition. The artist argued with the thought that the human ear had become accustomed to the speed, energy, and noise of the urban industrial sounds cape; furthermore, this new sonic palette requires a new approach to musical instrumentation and composition. Is a new type of thinking in terms of music and how it relates to the real world, its spectacular. With opposition to Fascism, Russolo spent most of his time between 1927 and 1932 in Paris. In 1922, he invented a series of rumoraomoni, a kind of harmonium which allowed for the extension of tone and pitch by the simple shift of one register. In addition to the great works by Russolo, he also appeared in three short Futurist films, for which he also compose the music. He held his last music concert in 1929, presented by Edward Varese, at the opening of a Futurist show in Paris in the Gallerias 23. As discussed, it is amazing just looking at the works of Russolo and he had contributed a lot in the music world to inspire future generations.
Music for TAPE/BAND – Musik from Sweden
Sten Hanson: L’inferno de Strindberg
This piece I have selected give me a very imaginative thought when i listening to the song. I think of myself traveling through space and everything is just surrounding me. Its very upbeat sometimes and then it slows down and I will think about why there is a wide range of notes in the piece. Its very unique and i felt like it would take a listener to listen at least 3-4 times to have a fair interpretation about the song. Its a great piece and i would recommend it to anyone looking for inspiration or something new for their music.

Mckenzie Wark- A Hacker Manifesto
A Hacket Manifesto is a critical manifesto written by McKenzie Wark, where he criticizes the commodification of information in the age of digital culture and globalization.
Wark, hacking begins with what he defines as an “abstraction”, the construction of different and unrelated matters into previously unrealized relations. Hackers produce new conceptions, perceptions and sensations hacked out of raw data. Everything and anything is a code for the hacker to hack, be it “programming, language, poetic language, math, or music, curves or colourings” and once hacked, they create the possibility for new things to enter the world. I found that really interesting and it shows how hacking creates a new world that people has yet to see. However it is usually misunderstood by most people in society as hackers tend to bend the rules that were set and it shows a sign rebellion.
What they create is not necessarily “great”, or “even good”, but new, in the areas of culture, art, science, and philosophy or “in any production of knowledge where data can be extracted from it.” A new culture would be created due to the exploration of hackers in the media world and they are able to discover what normal people wouldn’t see or experience.
Wark argues that “new” information comes from the hack. It doesn’t matter if you are a computer programmer, a philosopher, a teacher, a musician, a physicist, if you essentially produce new information – it’s a hack . In that sense, anything that is original and out of the ordinary would be consider a hack. In this sense, hackers are creators and they bring new ideas into the world. The aim of the book is to highlight the origins, purpose and efforts by this emerging hacker class, who produce new; concepts, perceptions, and sensations out of the stuff of raw data.
After reading this article, I realized that the idea of hack was very different from what i thought of in the beginning. Hacking can be a really good thing as hackers discover a world that people hasn’t seen yet and it brings new things that are unseen. Society is constantly changing and i believe people should appreciate change because sometimes change leads to inventions and improvements in the world.
New Media Arts Animation 1
Projecting Cameraless Animation
Cameraless animation is an animation technique where footage is produced by creating the images directly on film stock, as opposed to any other form of animation where the images or objects are photographed frame by frame with animation camera. Camera-less animation requires a lot of working time and it yields relatively little viewing time.
There are two basic techniques or methods to produce animation directly on film. Blank film stock and the other one with black film. On blank film the artist can draw, stamp or even glue objects. Black film can be scratched, etched sanded or punched. Artists can use many tools and combine techniques endlessly. Frame borders may be observed or completely ignored, found footage may be included, any existing image maybe distorted by mechanical or chemical means. A third method takes place in a darkroom, using unexposed film that is exposed by frame. The artists places objects onto the fresh stock and then uses a small light beam to create synthetic sound as well as images by drawing otherwise reproducing forms in the soundtrack area.
There would be different forms formats of these artwork as well. Large formats such as 70 or 35mm film may be preferred for their relatively larger working are, but direct animation is done on 16 mm or even Super8 mm film as well.
Silent speed,. The Universal speed for 16mm sound films is 24 second frames per second. This is an international standard. It is the slowest speed at which a film’s sound track can move and still generate reproducible sound throughout the projector’s amplification system. But many 16mm Projectors are equipped with a switch that allows them to operate at a silent speed of 18 frames per second. At this slower speed our persistence of vision still works, so that visual continuity is maintained. When you you project your caemraless film at silent speed, it takes longer going through the machine and hence it takes longer to see.
