Some of us might be new to the blogging scene, but it doesn’t mean we don’t have a lot to bring to the table. In our own unique way we have the perfect elements for a class focused on blogging (social networks), food, film, and music.
Here’s our breakdown of who we are and what we have to offer:
ELIZABETH is a senior majoring in business journalism with a minor in English. She was born in the Dominican Republic and came to the United States when she was 6 years old. Today she has many diverse interests such as watching Asian dramas, reading books and writing. All of which can be related to blogs and classify as a form of entertainment. Because she is completely in love with books, she has worked for the library for five years and in the future hopes to use her degree to write about the things that she loves. While she already blog about her interests, she is taking this course to help her improve her writing for her personal blog and to have a competitive advantage, as journalism is speedily transitioning from print to digital. She hopes to use her writing to reach out to the world and open up their minds to the possibilities.
JESSE: loves traveling, all types of food, and is always down for a new experience. Fun fact: He is 100% Chinese but can barely speak Cantonese at all. His interests include basketball, baseball, and somewhat football. He plays for a local travel team as well as several church and urban professional leagues. He also dabbles in a wide variety of hobbies such as online gaming, hiking, shopping, and sneaker collecting. His iPod is filled with Waka Flocka, Rick Ross and various other artists which is why the music aspect of the class is intriguing for him. His Asian background has given him knowledge of several Asian foods, which he hopes to share. He is also actively on Instagram @J_killa491
VIVIAN: is a junior majoring in Marketing with a minor in Journalism. She has passion for everything digital and is fascinated by how essential this aspect of technology has become to journalism from news broadcasts to magazines. Bloggers are now considered major influencers in the world of fashion, media, and entertainment. She wants to learn the essence of what bloggers really do in order to understand why their demand has increased. She is actively on Twitter (@vmati) with a semi-strong understanding of how important it is to networking. Spending a semester focusing on blogging, social media, and expanding my blogging skills will be great!
JULIYA: usually goes left when you think she’s going to go right. She is a professional Chef, writer, and known dabbler in all things explorative and handy. She is an alumnus of the French Culinary Institute and current Senior at Baruch (Journalism/ Creative Writing with a Minor in Natural Sciences. She loves cooking, dining, music, dancing, traveling, writing, painting and socializing with family, friends and the like. Juliya is weird, period. Here, you will get to experience things through her senses.
