the stigmas in being black and gay

efrazier on Dec 8th 2009

Being gay is becoming more acceptable in our society. So why is it more likely that a white male will come out with his sexuality than a black male will? There are stigmas in the black culture against gay people, but why? I actually worked on this topic as a group project a couple of years ago where we had to make a documentary on the subject. The documentary was titled “Young Black and Gay.” I’m very interested to hear what everyone thinks about this.

Do you have any concrete info about this? 100% of the gay people I know are white or middle eastern, but that’s out of four people so it’s not exactly representative of anything.

Im not sure about what concrete info you’re asking for.
I’m saying that black people are less confident with coming out with their sexuality than other races because the black culture frowns upon it. Especially those who have carribbean roots. What I’m asking is what are the reasons for the stigmas in the black community’s that enable this?
