With the quick gentrification of the West Village to the building up of the Meat Packing since the early 2000’s joined by the rent increases in Chelsea, which have forced out neighborhood gay bars such as The View and long time residents such as Rawhide and Splash,
there may be fear for what is next and what will become of these neighborhoods if more gay bars get priced out.
