New Topic!!

I have come up with a better topic for my final project. I am now going to report on the photographer Benjamin Swett’s exhibition, New York City of Trees. The exhibit, which opens this Wednesday at Central Park’s Arsenal Gallery, features 28 photographs from Swett’s upcoming book of the same title. Besides being a photographer and writer, Swett worked for 13 years in the New York City Parks Department and cares deeply for the conservation of New York City’s urban jungle. I have already reached out to him via email and he is willing to meet with me for an interview after the frenzy of his opening. I am going to the opening on Wednesday evening and hopefully getting some footage of the turnout. This topic lends itself to visual aids as well as interviews. I plan on speaking with Swett as well as someone else either from Parks and Recreation Dept. or from a NYC nature conservancy group. I plan on reporting both about the history of some of NYC’s trees as well as the efforts being made to maintain the city’s green life.
