Brutal Pageantry: the Third Reich’s Myth-Making Machinery, In Color
In light of the 80th anniversary of Hitler’s appointment to chancellor of Germany, Life.com looks back on one of the most powerful propaganda tools ever used: the swastika. I believe putting the photographs in color adds a more chilling reality to the photographs, and the emphasis on the grandiosity of the use of the swastika was very effective in showing how it can garner such profound loyalty from a nation.

Reality TV is Even Better Than You Think
This audio podcast is hosted by WNYC’s On the Media. Bob Garfield interviews an anonymous ex-reality television producer about just how produced reality television is. While the producer’s information did not seem far-fetched, I found his anonymity to work against him, especially ending the interview with him saying he was glad he could share that information other than in a bar. With no other sources, I found him a little hard to trust completely.

The Sartorialist: Testimonies from Impossibly Chic Urbanites
Scott Schuman is the creator of the one of the first street style blogs The Sartorialist. In this video, he brings together the most memorable and interesting characters he has documented, uniting them with their common love for self-expression. I do think this video is effective, both technically and also in showing the beneficial relevance of bloggers.
Interactive Features
This was my favorite of the four multimedia outlets. This is a five-part feature of five separate stories of people surviving mental incapacities and finding a way to live functionally. Each video is linked to a feature detailing lives that symbolize different yet extremely difficult mental struggles. The videos were done beautifully from the lightness, the purposeful lack of complete visibility to the victims, and the beautiful imagery. And if one found the story compelling enough, there is a full-length feature to compliment each video.
