Abstract

When I was in kindergarten, I was considered “gifted and talented”. I wore this title with pride. I never studied, yet always managed to receive high marks on exams. I was in fifth grade when my scholastic ego was ripped away from me. I was sitting in my Italian class when I had a realization: I am not always going to be the smartest person in the room. In my narrative piece, I will discuss the events that formed and solidified this realization, and how it changed my outlook on education. I hope that the reader will be able to form a new opinion on the class “know it all” and reflect on how their relationship with learning might have changed during their adolescence.
