What is your research question/rhetorical situation?
- Gifted and talented labeling results in poor self-perception and academic growth.
What is your connection to rhetorical situation and why are you uniquely placed to write about it?
- I was labeled gifted and talented as a child which lead to me being upset when I would get bad grades and discouraged from doing school work.
Where do you imagine your writing “existing”? (newspaper, magazine, youtube, personal blog)
- I would say a personal blog would be the best medium. The nature of the content is not flashy for a magazine article or YouTube video. It’s not a heavily discussed current issue, so I’m not sure it would have much weight in a magazine.
Who is your target audience?
- Teachers or other people who were gifted and talented.
What form will your writing take? (Research paper, narrative, letter, script.)
- It will be in the realm of narrative. I would like for it to be both informative and engaging.
Why is this form the most effective way to communicate to your target audience?
- It has broader appeal than a traditional research paper. The narrative aspect of it and speaking from personal experiences will make it relatable, and the more scientific portions will be persuasive.
What is the value you’re trying to impart on your audience?
- Labels of any kind can sway a person to believe they are something they are not.
