Ever since the opening of the New York City High Line, it has been a buzzing attraction for tourists, young couples, artists, and even for people who simply want to enjoy the view over West Chelsea and the Hudson River. The High Line is truly unique in its own way because of the intricate, yet subtle, art embedded into the design of the walkway. Although this has shown to be a positive implementation to the area, which was once nothing more than a neighborhood for lower income families and warehouse storage, the High Line’s booming popularity gentrified the West Chelsea neighborhood. With the many waves of entrepreneurs, architects, artists, and real-estate companies rolling into the area at a rapid pace, the original residents simply weren’t able to adjust to these changes fast enough and in some cases couldn’t adjust at all.
