Personal Reflection- Final

December 18, 2014 Written by | No Comments

After taking this course I have an entire different view on not only 3D printing, but the process of mass production. At the start of this course I had such an interest in 3D printing and the process of bringing it into main stream society. After taking this course I know now that the community of makers actually exists, and 3D printing has just scratched the surface. We are just at the start of the what is to come.  I didn’t know what the potential of 3D printing could produce in the future. During the readings in our textbook, I learned a lot about what is to come for the future of 3D printing.  Before reading the textbook and my experiences in class, and at Makers Faire, I have a new found love for 3D design and printing.

The other elements that really were interesting and helpful was learning more about bringing design and business together. I believe that design and marketing are two things that need to stick together, so having the chance to work on both was really refreshing.  I enjoyed learning how to use the databases, and learning more about Baruch’s resources, like the Blog, Library, and 3D printers.

The main project, accessing water was a roller coaster ride for myself and my group. After starting with four members (that honestly didn’t want to work together) and ending with two members, was the biggest challenge I faced all semester. Working with my group wasn’t the smoothest, but I know that working in groups is always a challenge for myself. I honestly hate it. It was a challenge for myself, because its an exercise patience, and trust. In the end it worked out well, Jia and I produced a great idea and presentation. It came along way considering where we started.

Cheers,

Katie
