This video was interesting to watch. Punchcutting seems like it is very simple but complicated process. You simply copy the letter to the metal piece but it takes a long time to file down the metal piece to make it look nice. Punchcutting is what we went to in the beginning of the class. Tracing our name. It was not easy to trace the letters but we all did it. Punchcutting is an old method but we cannot ignore it because without it we would not have newspapers in the old days and whatever needed to be printed.

this design is very successful. in this design you can see the line through the word liiiiiiiiiiiiine. i feel that it is very effective that they used the word to illustrate it.
this design is very successful. it is very visual and effective. without getting the pictures of flea onto the ad, they designed the ad big enough so that the walking people would present the flea on the dog.
this a is very successful because it shows exactly how vodka is doing around the world. as you can see, they used vodka bottle from all around the world. you can see how popular vodka is and how it is in the world.
these two design is unsuccessful design because they have too much words on their ad. i believe that people stare at the ad for a long time only if it seems very interesting and appealing but these two ads doesnt make it interesting. because there are so many words on it. it makes it the ad seem crazy and not focused.
this design is unsuccessful because you cannot see what this ad is for. A&F is clothing company but you cant see the clothing at all .
i think this design is unsuccessful because you cant see what this commercial is really about. the words are too small and too light to make it seem like its a Lego commercial.
What is Graphic Design?
The article explains what graphic design is. Even though we may not realize how important graphic design is, graphic design is often influencing our decisions each day. The article explains that there are image-based design and type-based design. The image-based design would be a way to represent an idea through images, such as photography, drawing, and others. The type-based design would be a way to represent an idea through words. The two designs are used daily in our lives to present and convey message to us.
My question to the author would be, “what would be a better communication to convey message? Visual or Verbal?” The author might answer the question as “Visual is better communication” The author might answer that way because the author is graphic designer. I believe that a graphic design might be better communication than verbal communication because I believe in that saying “a picture is worth a thousand words.” If the visual communication if powerful enough, I believe that it would convey more message than verbal communication.
