After I read Prison Writings, I feel that injustice meaning is robbing and ignoring of people’s( other races) right to live, put simply the elimination of their(different race’s) existence. I keep believing that real justice consists of the mind without stereotypes, the knowledge to be able to judge by our own mind, which including the fairness and the action to express our mind and our judgement, and not to being flown by majority or not to go with the wrong times. Especially, I feel that it is a very important thing that we should have knowledge about other cultures and customs after I read Prison Writing.
Native Americans have a lot of different cultures from new American. For example, their act is based on their mind which treating their feel, nature, family and their people, which Sun Dance is the symbol of their style. They have fight with different kind of Native Indians but it is not completely same as New American did. They always try to have a respect for everything, and there are no over desire like New American which always seek their profit, cut what they did not want easily and control the information for their advantage. Native American’s culture was not accepted, not admitted and not respected.; They were robbed their freedom of being Native Indian.
The majority of race such New American has a lot of power, but the majority tend to treat values of the minority of the race as unimportant. The fairness is completely different defined between the majority and the minority, even if both live in same country. I feel Native American because I had an experience that Japanese culture and custom were denied and laughed by another country people in NY. In Japan, there are a little huge amount of people who came form the country same as denied Japan and Japanese, and they are the minority in Japan. They live as the minority in Japan and might feel unfaireness, so they and people who came from as same country as them hit me because I am Japanese and they are bigger number than Japanese in NY. I believe our action never relate the majority or the minority. The important thing is whenever we should have respect other race and their style.
The definition how race relate to justice is understanding and respecting different culture and people, and not pushing own value of thinking to other race, many time when we think about justice, we should consider. However, step by step, I confuse what exactly justice is. Under the relation of justice and race, I feel justice for everyone meaning might be just no over desire.
