Unauthorized Bicycle Lanes in Midtown
A group of cyclists took the privilege of creating their own bicycle lane on West 49th Street and Avenue of the Americas in Manhattan. They held a stencil of the bicycle logo similar to the city’s version and one of a bicyclist with wings over the clean street. Then they spray painted it and drew the line. This group of cyclists believe that what they were doing is right for the public because it was difficult to maneuver around the cars and traffic in the city. They wanted to prevent accidents from happening. Some people riding bikes uses those lanes and cars still drive over those lanes because those lanes are not official. The issue is, should these lanes be removed or kept for the safety of the people?
