Looking for a new play to watch in the city? As reported in this New York Times Article, many people know Zachary Quinto as Spock of Star Trek and these same people will be pleasantly surprised to know that he is playing Tom in “The Glass Menagerie.” The play revolves around Tom’s memory of his family when he used to live with them, with Qunito as Tom, “an angry young man” and “an outcast” who works a dead end job. Ben Brantly also writes: “As Tom recalls his encounters with the mother and sister he loathes and loves with all his confused heart,” the atmosphere set forth by his memory emotionally moves the audience. Amanda, his mother, who had a wonderful past but now lives in a depressing present and who hopes Tom’s sister, Laura, a disabled girl, will benefit from getting married. With Tom’s mother being played by Cherry Jones, Celia Keenan-Bolger playing Laura and Brian Smith as Laura’s gentleman caller, all of the actors give praiseworthy performances throughout the two hour and a half show, and prove to everyone “memory turns us all into poets.”

“The Glass Menagerie” by Tennessee Williams is playing at the Booth Theater located at 222 West 45th Street in Manhattan from September 26, 2013 to February 23, 2014. Tickets are priced at about $77 each.
